THE GLOBAL PRACTICE FOR MACROECONOMICS, TRADE and INVESTMENT (MTI)
The MTI Global Practice leads the World Bank Group's dialogue and engagement with clients in macroeconomics, fiscal policy, trade, competition and investment. MTI links the macroeconomic dialogue with programs focused on expanding the role of the private sector in economic development. In our day-to-day engagement with countries, we support Ministries of Finance, Trade, Economy and Production in their pursuit of reform agendas conducive to strengthening inclusive growth led by the private sector. Responsibilities:
Manage and maintain a database on economic indicators for Cameroon;Lead the macroeconomic monitoring of Cameroon, manage and update the World Bank's macro and fiscal model (MFMod) on a regular basis;Prepare periodic economic updates and briefs, including the Macro and Poverty Outlook (MPO);Contribute to the preparation of a range of key economic policy papers, policy notes and reports;Support the preparation of Debt Sustainability Analysis (DSA) for Cameroon;Coordinate within the country team the preparation of the annual Country Policy and Institutional Assessment (CPIA) exercise;Collaborate closely with other Global Practices (GPs) on the preparation of key strategic pieces and/or engagements;Support dialogue on policy reform with Government authorities and development partners;Maintain close working relationships with government counterparts and other stakeholders, including with the International Monetary Fund (IMF);Help with the preparation of development policy operations or other types of lending operations focused on economic reforms;Play significant role in the production of Systematic Country Diagnostic analysis and Country Partnership Frameworks;Participate actively in the MTI Global Practice and the EA2M2 Unit;

Selection Criteria
Minimum of a Master's degree in economics, with five (5) years of experience.Strong technical and operational skills.Proven sense of initiative, results orientation, and leadership qualities, as well as effective teamwork skills.In depth understanding of the Cameroonian economy and the broader Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (CEMAC) region. A strong grasp of the economic issues facing Cameroon, built from experience working on the Cameroonian economy in a different capacity. You should also understand well the other economies in the CEMAC region, and the regional issues related to a common monetary policy and regional central bank.Strong communication and presentation skills, in English and French, including the ability to speak persuasively and to present ideas clearly and concisely with senior policy officials and a wide variety of audiences.Strong integrative capacities; i.e., ability to situate International Development Association (IDA) activities within a coherent strategic framework.Excellent interpersonal and negotiations skills and ability to work flexibly, creatively and to multitask as the need arises.Strong commitment towards team work and knowledge sharing, especially across the WBG.Familiarity with econometric software such as E-Views, STATA or other statistical packages and MS Office programs, including Excel, is essential.
